Kenya on world environment day has barred all single-use plastics such as water bottles and straws from its national parks, beaches, forests and other protected areas.
The implementation of the ban, first announced a year ago, was ordered in a letter from Tourism Minister Najib Balala which gave directives to be adhered to in all protected areas.
We Denhum holidays welcome this decision with both hands having been involved responsible tourism as our main responsibility in protecting the environment as indicated in our travel policy.
For this reason, we wish to inform all our clients that we shall no longer be providing bottled water in the vehicles, instead we shall be providing them with refillable water bottles on arrival. We shall also be providing dispenser in the vehicle where they will be refilling bottles from.
This way, we aim at supporting the government directive on ban on “no use of plastic bottles and bags” in all protected areas which include beaches, national parks and reserves. As a responsible travel company in Kenya, we too will be discouraging the same to our clients. However, we shall be providing all our clients with refillable water bottles on arrival at the airport
We are also in consultation with lodges and camps that have decided no plastic bags and bottles policy in their premises as the only lodges and camps that we shall be using and recommending to our clients.
We are committed to conservation and protection of the environment. Are you?
